The Town of Charlemont was founded in 1765 and is located in Franklin County. Charlemont is a highland town with peaks like the Pocumtuck Mountain as high as 1872 feet.

The town contains about 1400 year round residents.

The town hosts a number of recreational activities as well as ski resort development.
